Internal Audit Internship Program
In accordance with Columbus State University's mission to achieve academic excellence through teaching, research, creative inquiry and student engagement, the office of Internal Audit endeavors to promote learning and leadership skills and provide the necessary experience to become an outstanding member of the business community. The Office of Internal Audit offers an Internal Audit Internship for current CSU students.
The internship is designed to provide experience in the area of Internal Audit, Governmental Accounting and Management Advisory Services. Emphasis will be placed on understanding and applying audit principles and procedure with regard to operational, compliance and financial audits. Board of Regents and CSU policies and procedures will be considered when providing management advisory services. All aspects of the internal audit process will be involved. Review and evaluation of business processes, documentation of internal controls, verification of compliance with Board of Regents Business Procedures Manual, one-on-one interviews with department personnel, identification of potential risks, formulation of improvement recommendations and written audit reports are the primary responsibilities that the intern will perform. The Chief Internal Audit Officer or other designated staff will supervise internal audit interns.
Candidates for the internship should be accounting majors with an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher. Potential interns must have completed Intermediate Accounting I and II and possess strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as, an intermediate level knowledge of PC applications with emphasis on spreadsheets and word processing.
